In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
Every day this week we will be honoring those who have made that sacrifice with a different event.
Today's event is a Blood drive by Cascade Regional Bloodmobile! Come down to the PD and donate a pint of blood in the memory of fallen officers between 4:30pm - 7:00pm.
Also in recognition of the 25th Annual Candlelight Vigil, tonight at 8:00pm please light a candle in honor of a fallen officer.
