MISSING PERSON


Wendy L Cope
DOB: 10/04/1965
LSA: 1501 33rd Ave East – Love’s Truck Stop

 On January 17, 2014 the above female was last seen at the Loves Truck Stop in Fife at approx. 1030 Hrs.  Cope suffers from Bi-Polar Disorder and Schizophrenia and did not have any of her medications, wallet, money, or cell phone with her when she went missing.  Cope is described as “very friendly and highly vulnerable” by family members and was seen talking with truck drivers in the truck stop parking area just before her disappearance.

The safe street of the week this week is 20th Street E. from 54th Avenue to 70th Street. The posted speed limit is 35 MPH. The school zone limit is 20 MPH during the hours of 6:30 - 9:00 A.M.  and 2:30 - 4:30 P.M.

Tips for calling 911

Calling 911 is stressful but call-takers are trained to help you. Knowing what to expect can make calling go smoothly and get you any needed help.
 
1. REMAIN CALM…
Speak slowly and clearly.
2. EXPLAIN WHY YOU ARE CALLING…
Explain what you are reporting. Describe if the situation is still happening or not.
911 operators will ask questions about the Who, What, Where, When, Why & How of the
incident.
3. GIVE THE ADDRESS…
Give the exact location/address of the situation. Include street or apartment numbers,
floor, and any information that will help emergency responders find the correct location.
4. GIVE YOUR NAME AND YOUR CURRENT LOCATION…
While not required, giving your name helps with any investigations that occur.
5. GIVE THE TELEPHONE NUMBER FROM WHERE YOU ARE CALLING…
Provide this information in case more information is later needed.
6. STAY ON THE LINE. DO NOT HANG UP…
Do not hang up until the 911 operator releases your call. Provide all the information you have. Situations change constantly and updated information may be needed.

-Crimes in progress
-Offender at the scene of the crime
-Witnesses at the scene of the crime
-Any incident involving injuries

11th Reserve Police Officer Academy begins!


The Fife Police Department began their 11th Reserve Police Officer Academy on January 2nd.
The Reserve Police Officer Academy consists of approximately 330 hours of police related training.  To graduate and receive a Reserve Police Officer Commission in the State of Washington, students must be able to pass all written tests including the State Exam, an emergency vehicle operations course, firearms qualifications, defensive tactics, and practical mock scene scenarios. The academy takes approximately 5 months to complete.
